How to Succeed in Business

Purpose:
What type of solution are you bringing to the world? In a world full of people surrounded by challenges; except the product or service you offer is a solution long needed, you aren’t ready to embark on this long journey. Is your product or service helping someone?

Presentation:
Men look at the outward appearance, and WOMEN do too. With that being said, if we apply the same biblical saying in business, we can say: “In Business Presentation is Everything!” And this is how it works: What you are presenting (Product/Service), how you are presenting it (Marketing), and when you are presenting it (Season) will play a big role in your success.

Community:
The unavoidable reality in business is that, from time to time, you will get discouraged. Being surrounded by a community of people, who can see your potential and are willing to take the time to encourage you to remain consistent, is necessary; especially during the low times. In my case, it was my wife, my pastor, and his wife. Surround yourself with positive people, expand your network, or hire a coach.

Enemy:
The worst enemy of every entrepreneur is not prioritizing your time for what is necessary. You should use your time wisely by studying your competitors and working on strategies to include what they aren’t offering so you can stand out. In my early years as a business owner, the biggest struggle was being employed full time while trying to build a business. Thankfully for me, I worked the third shift and was able to build my business during the day; building a portfolio, accumulating knowledge, and marketing. Eventually, I transitioned to full-time business owner. While every person’s situation is different, I encourage you to not let a day go by without dedicating a few hours to your dream. WATER Your dream DAILY!

Be consistent:
People are always watching. Surprisingly, it’s not always what we have going on that they’re watching, but how consistently we’re doing good things that benefit others. During my early years in business, I learned that consistency attracts customers. I will never forget our first big contract. What makes it so memorable isn’t the money we made, but the couple’s reasoning for using our business: “We’ve been watching you for a while. When we realized you were consistent, we decided to use your services.” We CAN NOT expect people to support us when we aren’t being consistent.

Growth:
Growth is every business owner’s dream. Most of us put more emphasis on having the capital and being knowledgeable of our products/services. We forget that the capital and being knowledgeable of our products/services are just the bricks. Our customer service skill is the mortar that keeps everything together. Let me tell you this: I despised my thirteen years employed by retail businesses. However, one thing I can say is that it taught me that saying: Yes Sir, Yes Ma’am, How May I Help You, and Thank You will cause your customers to refer you to family and friends. If you desire to grow as a business, always remember the: “CBC” Customers Beget Customers.

Patience:
You should always remind yourself that things take time. And after sowing your seed (Your Vision), watering it (Hard Work), and eventually the harvest (success) you have been waiting for will show up.
