Six Outstanding Ways to Overcome Failure
Failure is an inevitable part of the journey towards success. In the face of setbacks and challenges, how we respond can make all the difference
Doing What You Love:
One of the benefits of owning your own business is getting paid to do what you love, even when the entrepreneurial journey includes aspects of business you may despise. These nuisances might include bookkeeping, filling taxes, low sales, unsatisfied customers, incompetent employees, etc. Whatever the part of business you find painful, remember, your passion and drive for what you do will enable you to persevere, motivate you to learn to deal with all aspects of business, and ultimately lead to your success.
Passion for something doesn’t always result in business ownership. You can be passionate about business and work as an employee instead of an employer. If that’s you, then I’m afraid you aren’t quite ready to enjoy the full benefits of owning your own business. I remember waking up each day to do something I hated. Sometimes I’d work third-shift wishing all night that I had something better to do; not to mention, dealing with bad bosses. As much as I loathed my job, I refused to quit. I was serving others and providing for my family. Working that job was better than having no job at all. But I wasn’t happy. Although serving others and providing for your family are both noble gestures, they can’t replace your happiness. The only time you should keep a job that doesn’t bring happiness is when you’re working towards a goal that will position you for eventual success and happiness. As an employee with aspiration for business ownership, be mindful that your work ethic may play a major role in your future business. You reap what you sow!
Having More Control Over Your Time:
Having more control over your time is one of the benefits of owning your own business. It enables you to give yourself free time when needed, and you can do it simply because you are your own boss. Can you imagine working all those hours for someone else and by the time you come home, your wife and children are asleep. You can’t even enjoy free time with your family, play with your kids, and enjoy the things that you bought with the money you worked so hard for. By the time you retire, your children are grown, married, and moved on with their lives. Owning your own business changes all that. It provides the flexibility you need as it relates to time management. This doesn’t mean you can just take a break from your business without a plan in place to keep things going and your customers satisfied. Your time is your life. Whoever controls it, controls your life. Take that control back today!
Running Things as You See Fit:
When working for someone else, you can’t tell him how to run his business. No matter how much you hate his policies, the only thing you can do is offer suggestions. Well! Owning your own business enables you to run things as you see fit. Using your experience might put you in position to build a better version of the company that previously employed you. Become the change that you would like to see in the world.
